Wahoo Bay is envisioned to provide an immersive experience for park visitors, especially young children. Its purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of keeping our oceans and reefs healthy and thriving in an entertaining, educational and memorable way.
A retired New York City sludge tanker built in the 1960s, the 324-foot freighter has been worked on by a salvage crew and was sunk 110 feet under water, about a mile from the Pompano Beach pier.
Shipwreck Park Pompano Beach, Florida, is home to one more sunken vessel. The 107-foot Okinawa was sunk in 70 feet of water just one mile offshore in one of the most easily accessible major dive sites in the U.S.
